On the Mend

Our inclusive upcycling and reuse community project

Boost your self-esteem through repairing, reusing, and repurposing with creative activities in our community. On the Mend has no barriers to participation and encourages creativity, trying a new skill, repairing, reusing or repurposing rather than buying new. The project is open 5 days a week offering free/low-cost groups and workshops using materials, on the most part reuse, and donated by the wider community through our shop On the Mend highlights the journey donated goods take to being upcycled and all the environmental and personal benefits that journey can bring. This project supports and promotes a changing city centre and developing a resilient, stronger, greener economy that is accessible to all with a creative community at the heart of the High Street. If you are interested in joining any of our groups or you'd like to make a donation to the project please get in touch!

Our On the Mend project aims to:

- create a connected community - promote the health and well-being benefits of making and mending - encourage reuse and the benefits this brings - support volunteering, mentoring and skill sharing We have regular calendar of workshops and are delighted to have visiting artists and crafters volunteer their skills for more specialist workshops and events. Most of what On the Mend offers is free or low cost as we want as many people as possible to have an opportunity to try something new in a friendly supportive setting. The project has a developing team of volunteers who help with workshops, sort crafting materials and ensure all participants are welcomed to the On the Mend community. On the Mend has a selection of made in Perth crafts and small items of upcycled furniture for sale that helps us to raise funds for the project. On the Mend is proud to supply ReColour Reuse Chalk Paints, an environment friendly way to create a unique home.

What do people think of our activities?

I do hope we can get some more sessions booked in in the future. I know the guys would love to do some more upcycling once further sessions are available. Keep up the great work you do!

Alison from PKC Community Learning

There should be more places that offer art and craft activities like this in Perth & Kinross - 10/10!

Lou Feriggno

I loved my Sashiko session and learned some new skills - fantastic workshop! Fixed some wear and tear on my favourite jeans and made some new friends.
